CLA Elections: Call for Nominations – Executive Council 2013
Posted by CLA Govt Library and Info Mgmt Professionals Network on 2012/03/27
In any membership-based organization, all governance activities involve a balance of rights and obligations of the members.
Elections are a prime example: members have the right to stand for elected positions, and the right to vote for candidates; they also have the obligation to put themselves forward as candidates when possible, and the obligation to exercise their vote. Good governance depends on active participation.
We are now seeking nominations for positions on the Canadian Library Association (CLA) Executive Council for 2013. The elected individuals will start their terms on 1 January 2013.
The CLA Executive Council consists of:
- President
- Vice-President/President-Elect
- Treasurer
- 3 Councillors-at-large
For the 2013 term we are seeking candidates for the following two positions:
- Vice-President/President-Elect (2013, becoming President for 2014)
- One Councillor-at-large for a two year term (2013-2014)
If you are interested in serving in either of these positions, please submit your name and a short statement to nominations@cla.ca. Nominations must be received no later than 30 April 2012.
Thank you for considering elected service for your association.
