2011 CLA Book Awards Announced

For the first time in the history of the Canadian Library Association Book Awards one title wins two awards!

Half Brother, written by Kenneth Oppel and published by HarperCollins, wins both the CLA Book of the Year for Children Award and the CLA Young Adult Book Award for 2011!

CLA Book Awards Shortlists to be Announced on March 1

On Tuesday, March 1, 2011, the Canadian Library Association (CLA) will announce the 10 shortlisted books for each of the following awards:

  • Book of the Year for Children Award
    Presented annually since 1947, this award recognizes excellence in children’s books written and published in Canada during the preceding year.
  • Young Adult Canadian Book Award
    This award recognizes an author of an outstanding English language Canadian book which appeals to young adults between the ages of 13 and 18.

The awards will be presented at the CLA Book Awards Reception in Halifax on Thursday, May 26, 2011.
