July 12 – Tour of Industry Canada’s Library and Knowledge Centre
Industry Canada’s Library and Knowledge Centre (LKC) goes beyond traditional library services, by offering Industry Canada staff an impressive collection on such subjects as economics, manufacturing, science & technology, telecommunications and small business. Our collection includes over 63 000 print items and more than 50 specialized electronic resources, which are available right at employees’ desktops.
The LKC recently moved into a brand new space, specially designed to help us deliver our innovative services model. This tour will provide students with the opportunity to visit this new space, learn about the planning process behind its development, and learn about how our Library Vision guides the provision of services and resources to Industry Canada.
Location: 235 Queen Street
Date: Tuesday, July 12, at 9:00 am (Meet in the main lobby)

July 16 – Career Planning at Any Stage
Whether you’re looking for your first professional position, still finishing your studies, or seeking something new, you are sure to come away from this workshop with useful tips, tricks, tools and techniques to help you advance your career in the information professions.
Although “career planning” may be a contradiction in terms – sometimes we “fall into” a job – information professionals can work on their visibility and reputations to enhance their opportunities. Ulla de Stricker will share her many years of insight and asks that you bring your questions and concerns – there will be plenty of opportunity to discuss experiences and ideas with your peers.
