Some news from Statistics Canada’s Community Outreach Program:

How to find 2011 Census results

Population and Dwelling Counts, released on February 8, 2012, will be found on the Statistics Canada website in these census products:

  • Highlight Tables
  • Census Profile
  • Visual Census

2011 Census Profile

The Census Profiles will be built up over time as new data are released, beginning with Population and Dwelling Counts on February 8th, continuing to October 24th, 2012.

2011 Census Release Dates

  • Feb 8, 2012: Population and Dwelling counts
  • May 29, 2012: Age and Sex
  • Sept 19, 2012: Families, households and marital status; Structural type of dwelling andcollectives
  • Oct 24, 2012: Language

CANSIM free as of February 1st

CANSIM is Statistics Canada’s key socioeconomic database, located under Browse by Key Resource on the website. (See the newsletter for the Table of Contents)

In CANSIM, the user can choose a specific table, geography(ies), characteristics (variables) and date range, then download the data.

Users can create customized tables by adding or removing data; and manipulate data by asking for percent changes or year-to-date sums or averages.

Distance Learning Sessions

With your computer and telephone, you can connect to free learning sessions that cover one specific topic over a short period, approximately 45 minutes in length.
